Our Latest Trustee - Claire Tymon

We are very pleased to announce our new Trustee, Claire Tymon.  Claire brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Board. Having previously been part of the team as MPA’s Visual Arts Officer, and working with us in her roles at Regenerate Pennine Lancashire, Claire has a great understanding of our history, our values and our ambitions.

Her work as Cultural Planner for Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, including the development of the Blackburn is Open programme with Wayne Hemingway, and as a Director of Placeshakers CIC means that she is adept at working with a wide range of partners and collaborators, including local authorities, artists and cultural organisations, transport, housing regeneration and economic development companies, communities, academic professionals and students. Her skills include community engagement, research, strategy and policy development, fundraising, managing budgets, report writing, monitoring and evaluation, delivering presentations and conference papers and mentoring support. She has also delivered both professional development training and capacity building projects for public, private, and voluntary sector partners on cultural commissioning, programming and engagement, and has a strong awareness of government policy and academic theory for arts and culture, regeneration and community development.

We are delighted to have her back in the core team and are already enjoying the benefits of her input and the additional depth she brings to our governance team.

(With thanks to Claire's husband, photographer Richard Tymon, for the use of the image.)

The Mammoth Charity Cycle Ride

MPA Creative Director, Nick Hunt, completed a cycle ride from London to Paris in September 2015.  Three days of riding with an average of 80 miles a day and the negotiation of some major hills in the North and South Downs. This mad endeavour was to raise funds for projects celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2016.  Lots of you supported him, and we are very grateful.  The current total raised is just over £2,500.  If you can add to that please do.  Nick paid all the costs himself so every penny goes to the charity. You can find out more on his JustGiving page.
